Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong Broadway base, provided you can tolerate the breakfast queues. a modern, busy 4-star high-rise just off Times Square, scored for what it is.

This modern 4-star high-rise is a strong pick for a sightseeing-heavy New York trip, rather than a hotel-centered escape. Broadway theaters, subway stations and Times Square are close, while recent Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, comfortable beds and helpful staff. The substantial breakfast buffet is another strength, although its popularity comes with a catch.

The recurring drawback is morning congestion: Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests describe breakfast queues and elevator waits, though others find the system efficient. Rooms are compact, with limited storage a particular consideration for families. There is also a mandatory daily facility fee, so check your booking’s inclusions, especially breakfast. We'd choose it for convenience and dependable basics; we'd skip it for spacious rooms or a relaxed, uncrowded atmosphere.

• Best for: Broadway theatergoers; first-time New York visitors; sightseers prioritizing a central base

• Watch out for: breakfast queues and peak-time elevator waits; compact rooms and limited storage; mandatory daily facility fee

• Location: Excellent for Broadway and Times Square, with multiple subway stations a short walk away.

• Rooms: Modern and comfortable but compact; RIU lists the deluxe king at 18 square meters.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest reviews; Expedia’s cleanliness rating is particularly strong.

• Service: Recent guests repeatedly praise friendly, helpful staff, including Spanish-speaking team members.

• Amenities: Buffet breakfast, a 24-hour gym and Grab & Go; breakfast access can involve queues.

• Fees and surprises: Mandatory daily facility fee and an incidental deposit; confirm whether breakfast is included in your booking.
