Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong downtown base with standout cleanliness, welcoming staff and compact rooms. a compact, modern 4-star boutique-style hotel in Lower Manhattan, scored for what it is.

This modern, boutique-style 4-star opposite Trinity Church is a strong pick for Lower Manhattan sightseeing or a Financial District work trip. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, helpful staff and convenient subway access; Booking.com’s ratings reinforce the strong comfort and cleanliness picture. Comfortable beds, contemporary bathrooms and some church-facing views give it appeal beyond a purely functional business hotel.

The main compromise is space: several guests find rooms tight, particularly with multiple bags. Noise reports vary, with some mentioning subway vibration, street sounds or mechanical noise, so light sleepers should request a quieter room. Half Moon provides an on-site restaurant and bar, and there’s a 24-hour gym, but no pool. Breakfast generally costs extra unless included in your booking. We’d skip it if generous rooms or walking-distance access to Midtown attractions are priorities.

• Best for: Lower Manhattan sightseeing; Financial District business trips; Couples who prioritize cleanliness and transit

• Watch out for: Compact rooms and limited luggage space; Some reports of noise and subway vibration; Breakfast not automatically included

• Location: Opposite Trinity Church, close to Rector Street subways, Wall Street and the 9/11 Memorial.

• Rooms: Modern and comfortable but often compact; coffee makers, mini-fridges and walk-in showers.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback and major booking-site ratings.

• Service: Recent reviews strongly favor the welcoming staff; IHG lists limited housekeeping, so confirm the schedule.

• Amenities: Half Moon restaurant/bar, free Wi-Fi and a 24-hour gym; no pool.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; pets incur a fee and deposit, with conflicting details across sites—confirm directly.
