Axel's take: 8.0/10

A useful downtown base with friendly staff, small rooms and some rough edges. a practical mid-range chain hotel on the Lower East Side, scored for what it is.

This is a practical mid-range Holiday Inn, not a luxury four-star experience. We'd pick it for exploring downtown: Delancey–Essex subway access, Essex Market and plenty of restaurants are close by. Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean rooms, and the overall ratings are solid. In-room microwaves and mini-fridges, free Wi-Fi and a gym make it a useful base rather than somewhere to spend the day.

The compromises are compact rooms, some dated finishes and street noise. Recent feedback is mostly positive on cleanliness, though maintenance and housekeeping complaints recur across sites. The busy surroundings also divide guests. May 2026 reviews reported exterior construction and a facelift; completion isn't confirmed, so check before booking. We'd skip it if you need generous luggage space, dependable quiet or polished surroundings.

• Best for: couples exploring downtown; transit-focused sightseeing; travelers prioritizing location over luxury

• Watch out for: compact rooms and limited luggage space; street noise and uneven room condition; confirm status of reported exterior work

• Location: Convenient for Delancey–Essex subway, dining and downtown exploring; the busy street setting divides guests.

• Rooms: Small but functional, with microwaves and mini-fridges; dated finishes and maintenance issues appear in some reviews.

• Cleanliness: Mostly praised in recent Expedia and Trip.com feedback, with some contrary housekeeping and odor reports.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are the clearest recurring strength across sources.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, a fitness center and on-site dining; no pool.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast depends on the booked package; no on-site parking. Exterior work reported in May 2026 has no verified completion date.
