Axel's take: 8.1/10

A strong Williamsburg base with welcoming staff, compact rooms and a seasonal pool. a sociable 4-star boutique hotel beside McCarren Park, scored for what it is.

CODA Williamsburg is a 4-star boutique hotel that works best as a neighborhood base, rather than a full-service luxury retreat. We'd pick it for Williamsburg's restaurants, nearby McCarren Park and manageable subway access to Manhattan. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff and cleanliness. Comfortable beds and the summer pool scene add appeal, though the smaller rooms are more functional than indulgent.

The trade-offs are compact layouts, recurring reports of noise and uneven room maintenance, plus a mandatory daily facilities fee even outside pool season. Crucially, the Beach Club is currently closed; the hotel says it reopens Memorial Day weekend 2027. When operating, pool access is for ages 21 and over and the club also admits day visitors. We'd skip it for a quiet, spacious retreat or a family swimming holiday.

• Best for: couples exploring Williamsburg; travelers visiting Brooklyn friends; adults seeking a summer pool scene

• Watch out for: Beach Club closed until Memorial Day weekend 2027; compact rooms and potential noise; mandatory daily facilities fee

• Location: Beside McCarren Park, with restaurants, shops and Bedford Avenue subway within walking distance.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds, but smaller layouts and recurring maintenance complaints temper the boutique styling.

• Cleanliness: Generally a strength, with consistent praise across Expedia, Tripadvisor and Trip.com.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring highlight, despite occasional problem-resolution misses.

• Amenities: 24-hour gym, dining and seasonal pool; the gym and Beach Club are restricted to ages 21 and over.

• Fees and surprises: Daily facilities fee applies year-round and rises during pool season; summer daybeds require reservations.
