Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong Midtown base with helpful staff and a standout top-floor lounge. A practical 4-star business hotel near Grand Central, scored for what it is.

Club Quarters Grand Central is a practical 4-star business hotel, and we'd pick it for convenience rather than luxury. Grand Central is a short walk away, while Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the helpful staff and generally clean, comfortable rooms. The 27th-floor lounge and terrace are a real advantage: somewhere to work or unwind with complimentary coffee and city views. Water-refill stations and self-service laundry add useful everyday value.

The main compromise is space: smaller rooms suit travelers spending most of their time out, not anyone wanting to spread out. Some guests mention street noise, although many report quiet nights. Booking.com also lists a nightly resort fee and a refundable damage deposit; parking is paid and off-site. We'd skip it for a luxury getaway, but it's a strong choice for business trips and sightseeing.

• Best for: Business travelers and remote workers; Sightseers using Grand Central; Solo travelers and couples

• Watch out for: Compact entry-level rooms; Some street noise; Nightly resort fee and off-site parking

• Location: A short walk from Grand Central, with excellent transit access and nearby Midtown sights.

• Rooms: Functional, work-friendly rooms; smaller categories can feel tight, and views vary.

• Cleanliness: Strong ratings across major sites; occasional housekeeping complaints do not dominate the feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are one of the most consistent positives.

• Amenities: 27th-floor lounge and terrace, complimentary coffee, hydration stations, gym and self-service laundry.

• Fees and surprises: Booking.com lists a nightly resort fee and refundable damage deposit; paid parking is off-site.
