Axel's take: 8.1/10

A strong family waterpark base, but choose your room carefully. A casual 3-star waterpark resort with hotel rooms, cabins and larger rentals, scored for what it is.

The Resort at Schlitterbahn is a casual 3-star family resort, not a polished full-service retreat. Its biggest advantage is staying beside the waterpark and Comal River, with everything from basic rooms to larger rentals with kitchens. We'd pick it for a waterpark-focused family trip: recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, convenient access and clean accommodations. The original resort also keeps a pool and playground available after park hours.

The catch is inconsistency between buildings and room types. Dated furnishings recur in reviews, and some guests find beds or maintenance disappointing, although recent feedback is mostly positive. Check the exact accommodation rather than assuming every suite matches the same standard. Waterpark admission isn't automatically included with every booking; confirm your package and operating dates. We'd skip it if modern interiors and uniform hotel comforts matter more than park convenience.

Best for: Families planning several waterpark days; Groups wanting kitchens and extra space; Travelers prioritizing Comal River access
Watch out for: Room condition varies across accommodations; Some dated furnishings and uncomfortable beds; Waterpark admission depends on your booking
Location: Excellent for Schlitterbahn and the Comal River; proximity to entrances depends on your building.
Rooms: Basic rooms through spacious rentals; verify layout, kitchen facilities and exact accommodation.
Cleanliness: Recent reviews are predominantly positive, despite occasional housekeeping complaints.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across recent guest feedback.
Amenities: Guest pools, laundry and free parking; the original resort offers an after-hours pool and playground.
Fees and surprises: Confirm park tickets, seasonal operating dates and any package processing fees before booking.
