Axel's take: 7.5/10

A practical budget base with refreshed rooms, but breakfast and upkeep can disappoint. a no-frills 2-star roadside motel off I-35, scored for what it is.

Days Inn New Braunfels is a no-frills 2-star roadside motel that makes sense for a short, car-based stay. Recent Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff, while several describe updated interiors. Free parking, an outdoor pool and easy I-35 access add useful basics. We'd consider it good value for travelers spending their days at Schlitterbahn, the rivers or Gruene rather than at the hotel.

The trade-offs are a modest breakfast, highway and neighboring-room noise, and uneven maintenance. Tripadvisor feedback includes room-condition problems alongside strong praise, so the refreshed appearance does not guarantee everything works smoothly. Exterior corridors and no elevator are worth knowing about; request a ground-floor room if stairs are difficult. We'd skip it for a quiet getaway or consistently polished service.

Best for: budget travelers with a car; short river and water-park trips; I-35 overnight stops
Watch out for: highway and neighboring-room noise; limited breakfast and uneven maintenance; no elevator
Location: Convenient I-35 access and nearby restaurants; better as a driving base than a downtown stay.
Rooms: Guests often praise updated interiors and comfortable beds; exterior entrances and some maintenance complaints.
Cleanliness: Recent feedback leans positive, though cleaning and bathroom-condition complaints have not disappeared.
Service: Helpful staff earn frequent praise, but problem handling is less consistent.
Amenities: Outdoor pool, free WiFi, light breakfast and guest laundry; breakfast choices are basic.
Fees and surprises: Self-parking is free; dogs incur a nightly pet fee, with size and number restrictions.
