#2 of 7 hotels in Cannery Row by Axel's take. Cannery Row is #1 of 6 places to stay in Monterey, California. The best hotels in Cannery Row, ranked · Where to stay in Monterey, California

Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong couples’ pick, especially with an ocean-view room. an intimate, upper-midrange beachfront boutique inn on Cannery Row, scored for what it is.

Spindrift Inn is an intimate, upper-midrange beachfront boutique inn whose strongest selling point is an ocean-view room. We'd choose it for a romantic Monterey break: fireplaces, window seats and breakfast delivered to your door give it more personality than a standard midrange hotel. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, comfortable beds and clean rooms. Restaurants and the aquarium are an easy walk away.

Choose your room carefully. Cannery Row-facing rooms trade the bay outlook for street activity, and recent guests flag weekend bar noise. Breakfast is continental rather than a substantial cooked spread, valet parking costs extra, and there is no air-conditioning. The advertised spa is at sister hotel Casa Munras, not here. We'd skip it if guaranteed quiet or extensive on-site facilities matter more than waterfront atmosphere.

  • Best for: couples on a coastal getaway; ocean-view room enthusiasts; walkable aquarium visits

  • Watch out for: weekend street and bar noise; no air-conditioning; paid valet parking

  • Location: Directly on McAbee Beach, with Cannery Row dining and the aquarium within walking distance.

  • Rooms: Refreshed coastal décor, fireplaces and comfortable beds; ocean-view rooms are the standout choice.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, with repeated recent praise for clean, well-kept rooms.

  • Service: Friendly front-desk and valet teams are consistent strengths across recent reviews.

  • Amenities: Included continental breakfast and wine-and-cheese reception; spa treatments are at Casa Munras.

  • Fees and surprises: Valet parking is extra; street-facing rooms do not provide the signature bay view.
