Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong sightseeing base, with helpful staff and rooms that show their age. a practical 3-star in a historic building near the Zócalo, scored for what it is.

This 3-star Hampton puts reliable basics inside a characterful historic building, two blocks from the Zócalo. It's a strong pick for travelers spending their days exploring Centro Histórico rather than lingering in the hotel. Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise the location, cleanliness and helpful staff, and included breakfast adds useful value. The appeal is straightforward comfort and convenience, not luxury.

Room choice matters. Recent reviews describe some dated furnishings and dark, inward-facing rooms; street-facing rooms can bring noise instead. Ask specifically about exterior windows and a quieter position before booking. Breakfast earns both praise and complaints about quality and crowding, so treat it as a convenient start rather than a highlight. We'd skip it if bright, freshly updated rooms or dependable silence are priorities.

• Best for: first-time Centro Histórico sightseeing; families wanting breakfast included; travelers prioritizing location over design

• Watch out for: dark, inward-facing rooms; street noise in some rooms; uneven breakfast quality and crowding

• Location: Two blocks from the Zócalo, with major historic sights and Metro access nearby.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable, but furnishings show age; daylight and noise vary substantially by room.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, including recent praise for clean rooms and linens.

• Service: Helpful staff and concierge assistance are recurring strengths across booking and review sites.

• Amenities: Free hot breakfast and Wi-Fi, a fitness center, terrace and on-site dining.

• Fees and surprises: Valet parking costs extra; Hilton lists no self-parking or airport shuttle.
