Axel's take: 9.1/10

A strong medina pick for personal service, spotless rooms and peaceful courtyards. An upscale boutique riad with a spa in Marrakech’s medina, scored for what it is.

Riad Olema et Spa is an upscale boutique riad in Bab Doukkala, and a strong pick for travelers who prefer personal attention to big-hotel facilities. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, clean, comfortable rooms and generous Moroccan breakfasts. Traditional details mix with contemporary furnishings, while courtyards, rooftop seating and a hammam give you reasons to linger between medina outings. Jemaa el-Fnaa is roughly 15–20 minutes away on foot.

The trade-offs are mostly practical: the pools are for cooling off rather than proper swimming, there is no onsite parking, and first-time arrivals can struggle to find the entrance. Arrange a pickup if that worries you. A guest staying in August 2026 reported the rooftop hot tub was not working, so confirm availability before booking around it. We’d skip this for a pool-focused resort holiday.

• Best for: Couples exploring the medina; Travelers who value personal service; Spa-minded city-break travelers

• Watch out for: Small plunge pools, not full-size swimming pools; Tricky first arrival and no onsite parking; Confirm rooftop hot tub availability

• Location: Walkable Bab Doukkala base inside the medina; allow roughly 15–20 minutes to Jemaa el-Fnaa.

• Rooms: Individually decorated rooms and suites; guests consistently praise comfort, though layouts and sizes vary.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength, with repeated recent praise for spotless rooms and well-kept interiors.

• Service: Warm, attentive staff are the standout, especially for transfers, local advice and arranging activities.

• Amenities: Small courtyard pools, rooftop terrace, restaurant and hammam with massage treatments; breakfast is included on Expedia.

• Fees and surprises: Airport transfers, spa treatments and offsite parking cost extra; expect a local tourist tax.
