#7 of 7 hotels in El Perchel by Axel's take. El Perchel is #4 of 9 places to stay in Málaga. The best hotels in El Perchel, ranked · Where to stay in Málaga

Axel's take: 7.7/10

A practical city-break base, provided you can live with tiny rooms. a no-frills 1-star hotel beside Málaga’s historic center, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 1-star is a good pick for a short Málaga break when location matters more than room space. The historic center is an easy walk away, and Tripadvisor, Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean rooms. We'd choose it as a straightforward sightseeing base rather than somewhere to spend much time indoors.

The compromises are real: standard rooms are around 11 square meters, storage is sparse, and the shower-and-basin arrangement offers limited privacy for sharers. Recent guests also mention a slow single lift. Breakfast is available, but this is an essentials-only stay, not a full-service hotel. We'd skip it for a longer trip with bulky luggage, or if a spacious, fully separate bathroom matters.

Best for: short sightseeing breaks; solo travelers packing light; couples happy with the basics
Watch out for: tiny rooms and limited storage; limited bathroom privacy; slow single lift
Location: Walkable to the old town; Calle Larios is within roughly 10 minutes.
Rooms: Compact and functional, with comfortable beds but little luggage space.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback, despite occasional lapses.
Service: Helpful, welcoming staff receive repeated praise; reception operates around the clock.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, breakfast and vending machines; keep expectations basic.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast and connected public parking cost extra; confirm pet charges directly.
