Studio City is a sprawling five-star casino resort on Cotai, and we'd choose it for a family entertainment break rather than an intimate luxury escape. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise spacious rooms, cleanliness and helpful staff. The water park, dining and other attractions give families plenty to do without leaving the complex, while nearby light rail makes exploring easier. It's a very good all-rounder when resort time matters more than historic Macau.

The main catch is that the towers and booking inclusions aren't interchangeable. Celebrity Tower is the more mainstream option; Star Tower offers larger suites and more exclusive facilities.
