Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong Hollywood pick for apartment space, not traditional hotel service. A self-service, mid-range aparthotel in Hollywood, scored for what it is.

Kasa Sunset is a self-service, mid-range aparthotel: spacious studios with full kitchens rather than conventional hotel rooms. It's a strong pick for independent travelers who want room to spread out and good value in Hollywood. Recent Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, generous layouts and city views, with consistently strong overall ratings. The location also works well for Hollywood shows and nearby restaurants.

The trade-off is doing more yourself. Check-in requires online ID verification, support is virtual, and daily housekeeping costs extra. Parking is paid, limited and unsuitable for taller vehicles. Some guests also mention street noise and firm beds, though these don't dominate the feedback. We'd skip it if you want a staffed reception or daily room servicing included; otherwise, the space and kitchens make a convincing case.

• Best for: Independent Hollywood sightseers; Longer stays with self-catering; Couples wanting extra space

• Watch out for: Virtual front desk and online check-in; Limited paid parking with low clearance; Street noise in some rooms

• Location: Convenient for Hollywood theaters and dining; Hollywood/Vine Metro is roughly a 13-minute walk.

• Rooms: Spacious kitchen-equipped studios and views earn repeated praise; some guests find beds firm or street-facing rooms noisy.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across sources, including strong Booking.com and Expedia cleanliness scores.

• Service: Contactless arrival with pre-arrival ID verification; support is available around the clock by phone, text or chat.

• Amenities: Full kitchens, free Wi-Fi, fitness center, lobby lounge and luggage storage.

• Fees and surprises: Parking, pets and requested housekeeping cost extra; garage clearance is 6 feet 5 inches, and a damage-deposit hold may apply.
