Axel's take: 7.9/10

A fun Sunset Strip base, but noise, fees and a pool closure need weighing. A music-themed 4-star boutique hotel on the Sunset Strip, scored for what it is.

Hotel Ziggy is a music-themed 4-star boutique hotel that makes more sense as a social Sunset Strip base than a quiet retreat. Live bands, a lobby bar, Pizza Girl and loaner instruments give it genuine personality. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the location, comfortable beds, clean rooms and friendly staff. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want entertainment built into their stay.

The trade-offs are meaningful: music and neighbor noise vary by room, some guests report uneven maintenance or problem handling, and housekeeping is on request. Mandatory amenities and worker-protection fees, plus expensive valet parking, weaken the value. Crucially, Expedia lists the swimming pool as unavailable October 19–November 26, 2026, with dates subject to change. We’d skip it for a pool-focused trip during that closure, or if dependable quiet is essential.

• Best for: Live-music fans; Nightlife-focused couples; Friends exploring West Hollywood

• Watch out for: Pool unavailable October 19–November 26, 2026, per Expedia; Room-dependent music and neighbor noise; Mandatory daily fees and expensive valet parking

• Location: Strong Sunset Strip position for walking to restaurants, bars and comedy venues; wider LA sightseeing requires transport.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and distinctive decor; room size, noise exposure and maintenance experiences vary.

• Cleanliness: Broadly praised across recent reviews, despite some reports of odors and maintenance-related problems.

• Service: Friendly staff earn frequent praise, but complaint handling is less consistent; housekeeping is on request.

• Amenities: Live music, Pizza Girl, instrument loans and a 24-hour gym; Expedia lists the pool closed October 19–November 26, 2026.

• Fees and surprises: Daily amenities and worker-protection fees apply; valet parking costs extra, and Expedia lists a daily incidental deposit.
