Axel's take: 8.0/10

Good-value basics and friendly service, with neighborhood and parking compromises. a no-frills budget hotel in North Hollywood, scored for what it is.

This no-frills North Hollywood hotel is a strong pick for travelers with a car who want comfortable basics rather than a destination stay. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. Included breakfast earns plenty of positive mentions, especially for the breakfast team's service. Free parking, plus in-room microwaves and refrigerators, make it a practical base for airport trips and Universal Studios visits.

The location is the main compromise: this is a busy, utilitarian neighborhood, not downtown Burbank, and several guests feel uncomfortable walking nearby after dark. Street noise reaches some rooms, while the garage's tandem spaces can mean getting blocked in. We'd choose it for value and straightforward comfort; we'd skip it for a walkable vacation setting or reliably quiet surroundings.

• Best for: budget-conscious travelers with a car; Universal Studios visitors; short airport-area stays

• Watch out for: tandem parking can block cars in; street noise in some rooms; neighborhood divides guest opinion

• Location: North Hollywood rather than central Burbank; better suited to driving than sightseeing on foot.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable and reasonably spacious, with microwaves and refrigerators; street-facing rooms can be noisy.

• Cleanliness: Positive overall across sources, although occasional recent guests report worn or dirty carpeting.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength, particularly at breakfast.

• Amenities: Included breakfast, a gym and free parking cover the practical essentials.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is free but includes tandem spaces and height restrictions; credit-card preauthorization may apply.
