Nohga is a design-led 4-star in Higashiyama that gets the important things unusually right. Recent Expedia, Tripadvisor and Trip.com guests consistently praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. The lobby bakery, CICON restaurant and rooftop bar give it more personality than a standard sightseeing base. We'd choose it for exploring Kiyomizu and Gion on foot, with genuinely appealing places to eat and unwind back at the hotel.

Choose your room carefully: entry-level Queens are compact, and standard Queens and Kings have showers rather than tubs. The main-road setting isn't a secluded retreat, and Kyoto Station access takes more planning than staying beside the station.
