Axel's take: 8.4/10

Strong on comfort and shopping convenience, but ongoing renovations make room placement important. A large, full-service 5-star business hotel connected to 1 Utama mall, scored for what it is.

One World is a large, full-service 5-star in Petaling Jaya whose strongest selling point is everyday convenience: direct access to 1 Utama mall and Bandar Utama MRT. We'd pick it for shopping trips, family stays and business nearby. Tripadvisor and Booking.com guests praise spacious, clean rooms, while recent Expedia reviews reinforce the positives: friendly staff, comfortable accommodation and a generous breakfast buffet. It's an established hotel that generally delivers, rather than a cutting-edge luxury address.

The main caveat is phased guestroom refurbishment. Expedia lists work through June 30, 2027, subject to change, and a Tripadvisor guest reported disruptive drilling and hammering, acknowledged by management. Ask about work near your assigned room before booking. We'd skip it for a quiet daytime retreat during renovations, or if central Kuala Lumpur sightseeing is your main priority.

  • Best for: Shopping-focused families; Business travelers in Petaling Jaya; Travelers wanting mall and MRT access

  • Watch out for: Guestroom refurbishment and daytime construction noise; Outside central Kuala Lumpur; Confirm your room's refurbishment status

  • Location: Direct mall and MRT access is excellent for Bandar Utama; less convenient for a central-KL-focused stay.

  • Rooms: Guests consistently praise the space and comfort; phased refurbishment means room condition may vary.

  • Cleanliness: A clear strength across sites, with Booking.com and Expedia both scoring cleanliness 9.2/10.

  • Service: Recent guests praise welcoming staff, helpful housekeeping and efficient front-desk service.

  • Amenities: Outdoor pool, separate children's pool, gym, spa and pickleball courts; breakfast variety earns repeated praise.

  • Fees and surprises: Free self-parking; breakfast inclusion varies by package, foreign-guest tourism tax applies, and room renovations remain scheduled.
