#1 of 9 hotels in Chow Kit & Jalan TAR by Axel's take. Chow Kit & Jalan TAR is #5 of 6 places to stay in Kuala Lumpur. The best hotels in Chow Kit & Jalan TAR, ranked · Where to stay in Kuala Lumpur

Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong budget base with friendly staff, tiny rooms and a noisy streak. a design-led budget 3-star with micro rooms in Chow Kit, scored for what it is.

MoMo’s is a design-led budget 3-star in Chow Kit, and a strong pick for a short city break if you travel light. Recent Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, comfortable beds and generally clean rooms. Local eateries and the nearby monorail make exploring straightforward, while the downstairs Big Buns café gives the place more personality than a basic budget chain.

The trade-offs are space and sleep. Queen-bed Crashpads measure roughly 12–14.5 square meters, with low, tatami-style platforms rather than conventional beds. Road and corridor noise recur in guest feedback, and the hotel itself warns that regular events can disturb quieter stays. Request a quieter room when booking, without assuming silence. We'd skip it for light sleepers or anyone wanting room to spread out; parking is limited and charged separately.

Best for: solo travelers packing light; budget-minded couples on short breaks; travelers using public transport
Watch out for: road noise and hotel events; micro rooms with low platform beds; limited paid parking
Location: Chow Kit base near local eateries, Medan Tuanku monorail and Sultan Ismail station.
Rooms: Compact, minimalist rooms with private bathrooms; queen Crashpads have low platform beds.
Cleanliness: Generally strong recent feedback across sites, with occasional housekeeping lapses.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the most consistent strength in recent guest reviews.
Amenities: Big Buns café, free Wi-Fi and smart TVs; kettles and dental kits available on request.
Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a deposit, paid parking and possible early-arrival or late-checkout charges; confirm breakfast inclusion.
