#6 of 9 hotels in KL Sentral & Brickfields by Axel's take. KL Sentral & Brickfields is #4 of 6 places to stay in Kuala Lumpur. The best hotels in KL Sentral & Brickfields, ranked · Where to stay in Kuala Lumpur

Axel's take: 8.0/10

A strong budget base for train connections, with compact rooms and helpful staff. a no-frills 3-star near KL Sentral, scored for what it is.

City Central is a no-frills 3-star in Brickfields that makes most sense for travelers spending their days out. NU Sentral is across the street, putting shopping, food and KL Sentral’s transport connections within easy reach. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean rooms. We’d pick it for a short, transit-focused stay rather than somewhere to linger.

The compromises are small rooms, some without windows, and possible corridor noise. Confirm your exact room’s window status rather than trusting the photographs. The gym is a useful extra, but breakfast needs clarification: a recent Tripadvisor guest reports eating at an outside restaurant. Expedia also lists an airport shuttle that a July 2026 guest says was unavailable. We’d skip it if daylight, quiet or spacious rooms are priorities.

  • Best for: budget-conscious city explorers; travelers catching early trains; short stays near KL Sentral

  • Watch out for: compact rooms, some windowless; possible corridor noise; confirm breakfast and airport transport

  • Location: Across from NU Sentral, with easy walking access to KL Sentral and nearby restaurants.

  • Rooms: Small, practical rooms; confirm windows explicitly and request a room away from the lift.

  • Cleanliness: Recent guests on Tripadvisor and Expedia generally praise clean rooms and housekeeping.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are a consistent strength across recent reviews.

  • Amenities: The hotel confirms a gym, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning; clarify where breakfast is served.

  • Fees and surprises: Expedia lists paid parking; its shuttle listing conflicts with a July 2026 guest report.
