#9 of 9 hotels in Merchant Drive & I-75 North by Axel's take. Merchant Drive & I-75 North is #4 of 5 places to stay in Knoxville. The best hotels in Merchant Drive & I-75 North, ranked · Where to stay in Knoxville

Axel's take: 4.7/10

Convenient highway access cannot outweigh unreliable cleanliness and worn-out basics. a no-frills 2-star roadside motel off I-75, scored for what it is.

This is a no-frills roadside motel near I-75, and we'd look elsewhere even for a budget overnight. The brand advertises renovated rooms, free Wi-Fi and a pet-friendly welcome, while free parking adds practical appeal. But Booking.com's low guest ratings and Tripadvisor's weak overall score suggest it falls short of simple-hotel expectations.

Some guests praise friendly staff and updated rooms, but Expedia reviews from May through September 2026 repeatedly describe dirty floors, smoke odors, damaged bedding and malfunctioning air conditioning; one June guest reported roaches. Several guests also describe feeling uncomfortable around the property. These are problems with the basics, not merely missing extras. We'd skip it for family trips, smoke-sensitive travelers or anyone needing dependable comfort after a long drive.

Best for: Pet owners prioritizing basic lodging; Drivers needing access to I-75
Watch out for: Repeated cleanliness and smoke-odor complaints.; Unreliable air conditioning and worn bedding.; No elevator; confirm step-free room access.
Location: Off I-75 at exit 108, roughly five miles from downtown; better suited to drivers.
Rooms: Exterior-access rooms; recent guests report uncomfortable bedding, smoke odors and cooling problems.
Cleanliness: A major weakness: Booking.com scores cleanliness 5.0/10, alongside repeated recent Expedia complaints.
Service: Some friendly-staff praise, but recent complaints describe unanswered requests and unhelpful problem handling.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, free parking, pet-friendly rooms and a 24-hour front desk.
Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a per-stay deposit and possible extra-person charges; confirm before arrival.
