Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong roadside pick for cleanliness and friendly service, with highway noise the main catch. a straightforward 3-star roadside hotel off I-75, scored for what it is.

This straightforward 3-star Fairfield off I-75 is a strong pick for a Knoxville stopover or a visit with a car. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms, welcoming staff and a worthwhile included breakfast; Tripadvisor feedback also highlights helpful front-desk service. Free parking adds to the practical value. We'd choose it for dependable basics rather than a downtown atmosphere.

The main trade-off is the interstate: several guests mention truck noise, while others report quiet stays in rooms facing away from it. Request that side, especially if you're a light sleeper. Marriott lists housekeeping every other day, and the outdoor pool is seasonal. We'd skip it for a walk-everywhere city break, but it's a very good fit for road-trippers and short business or family visits.

• Best for: road-trippers stopping overnight; business travelers with a car; families visiting Knoxville

• Watch out for: interstate noise in highway-facing rooms; housekeeping every other day; seasonal outdoor pool

• Location: Convenient I-75 access north of downtown; better suited to driving than a walking-focused visit.

• Rooms: Generally praised as clean and comfortable; request a room facing away from the interstate.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent guest feedback, with particularly strong Expedia ratings.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff draw repeated praise across review sites.

• Amenities: Included hot breakfast, free parking and Wi-Fi, a fitness center and a seasonal outdoor pool.

• Fees and surprises: Marriott now allows pets with weight limits and a nonrefundable fee, despite Expedia listing no pets; confirm terms directly.
