Axel's take: 8.6/10

Choose it for heritage character and warm hospitality, not uniform palace grandeur. a five-star heritage palace resort with garden-set rooms, suites and tents, scored for what it is.

Ajit Bhawan is a five-star heritage palace resort whose appeal lies in its garden courtyards, individual rooms and relaxed atmosphere rather than overwhelming grandeur. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want Rajasthani character without sacrificing comfort. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the attentive staff, attractive pool and generous breakfasts; cleanliness scores are strong, too.

Room choice matters here: the accommodation ranges from tents to substantial suites, and some guests describe darker rooms or uneven maintenance rather than polished five-star luxury. Those complaints sit alongside much stronger overall feedback, but they’re worth checking against your exact category. A Booking.com guest reported construction beside rooms; whether that work continues is unconfirmed. Confirm this before booking, and check compulsory festive-dinner charges. We’d skip it if consistent modern luxury matters more than heritage atmosphere.

Best for: couples seeking heritage character; travelers who enjoy garden-and-pool downtime; visitors who value attentive service
Watch out for: room styles and natural light vary; reported construction; current status unconfirmed; compulsory festive-dinner supplements
Location: City location with shops and restaurants nearby, rather than an isolated countryside resort.
Rooms: Distinctive rooms, suites and tents; confirm the exact layout, daylight and category before booking.
Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback and cleanliness ratings outweigh occasional individual complaints.
Service: Warm, attentive staff are a consistent strength across Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia.
Amenities: Outdoor pool, gym, spa and several dining options; breakfast receives frequent praise.
Fees and surprises: Expedia lists festive gala-dinner charges and free parking; ask whether reported room-adjacent construction remains active.
