A handy Waikiki base, but dated rooms and uneven housekeeping limit its appeal. A vintage, no-frills 2-star Waikiki hotel, now called Waikiki Heritage Hotel, scored for what it is.

The former Hawaiiana now operates as Waikiki Heritage Hotel: a low-rise, no-frills budget stay near the beach, restaurants and shopping. We'd consider it for travelers who prioritize getting around Waikiki on foot over spending time in the room. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the location and friendly staff, while the courtyard pool adds something beyond the basics. Selected rooms have kitchenettes; check the exact category before booking.

The trade-offs are more than cosmetic. Recent reviews mix clean, comfortable stays with complaints about poorly cleaned bathrooms, aging fittings and noisy air-conditioning; some guests also report outside noise. The hotel lists a mandatory resort fee, paid parking and charges for requested cleaning. There is no elevator. We'd skip it for light sleepers, travelers needing step-free access, or anyone expecting consistently polished rooms.
