#3 of 9 hotels in Dong Khoi & Nguyen Hue by Axel's take. Dong Khoi & Nguyen Hue is #2 of 6 places to stay in Ho Chi Minh City. The best hotels in Dong Khoi & Nguyen Hue, ranked · Where to stay in Ho Chi Minh City
Axel's take: 8.8/10
Strong service and a generous pool make up for rooms showing their age. a traditional five-star riverside hotel in District 1, scored for what it is.
Lotte Hotel Saigon is a traditional five-star riverside hotel that delivers more on comfort and hospitality than cutting-edge design. It's a strong pick for travelers who want central sightseeing with proper downtime: the large outdoor pool, garden setting and river-view rooms are genuine draws. Recent Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, thorough housekeeping and a breakfast buffet with plenty of choice.
The main compromise is the rooms' older styling. Some recent guests find the decor dated, so don't expect the fresh interiors of a newly opened luxury hotel. Occasional street noise also appears in feedback, though the overall picture is comfortable rather than troubled. We'd choose it for attentive service and pool time; we'd skip it if contemporary room design is the priority. Check whether breakfast is included before booking.
-
Best for: couples combining sightseeing and pool time; families wanting a large outdoor pool; business travelers who value attentive service
-
Watch out for: older room decor; occasional street noise; breakfast inclusion varies by booking
-
Location: District 1 riverside address, within walking distance of the Opera House and Nguyen Hue.
-
Rooms: Spacious city- or river-view rooms; comfortable overall, but some decor feels dated.
-
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback and major booking-site ratings.
-
Service: Warm, helpful staff are the most consistently praised feature.
-
Amenities: Large outdoor pool, children's pool, gym, spa and several dining options.
-
Fees and surprises: Airport transfers cost extra; breakfast depends on the booking, and early or late check-out may incur charges.
