#4 of 7 hotels in Cho Lon (Chinatown) by Axel's take. Cho Lon (Chinatown) is #5 of 6 places to stay in Ho Chi Minh City. The best hotels in Cho Lon (Chinatown), ranked · Where to stay in Ho Chi Minh City

Axel's take: 7.2/10

A practical Cholon base, provided hospital noise won’t spoil your sleep. a simple 3-star hotel beside Cho Ray Hospital in Cholon, scored for what it is.

Golda is a simple 3-star in Cholon whose strongest selling point is proximity to Cho Ray Hospital. It’s a sensible pick for hospital-related visits or travelers specifically exploring District 5, rather than first-time sightseeing downtown. Booking.com, Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, and the overall picture is of adequate comfort rather than anything polished. A restaurant and coffee facilities add everyday convenience.

The main compromise is sleep: ambulance sirens and weak soundproofing recur across sites. Several guests also find the smaller rooms cramped. Cleanliness feedback is mostly positive, but housekeeping and bathroom maintenance are less consistent, with recent reports of drainage and hot-water problems. We’d choose it for a practical neighborhood stay, but skip it for quiet nights or easy access to central attractions.

  • Best for: visitors to Cho Ray Hospital; travelers exploring Cholon; short, practical District 5 stays

  • Watch out for: ambulance sirens and thin soundproofing; compact entry-level rooms; uneven bathroom maintenance

  • Location: Steps from Cho Ray Hospital in Cholon; less convenient for the central sightseeing circuit.

  • Rooms: Air-conditioned and functional; smaller categories can feel cramped, with recurring soundproofing complaints.

  • Cleanliness: Generally positive ratings, although some guests report housekeeping lapses.

  • Service: Helpful reception staff attract repeated praise, though service is not uniformly consistent.

  • Amenities: Restaurant, coffee facilities, free Wi-Fi and a terrace; confirm breakfast availability before booking.

  • Fees and surprises: Airport transfers cost extra; breakfast inclusion varies, and parking is limited.
