A strong central base with warm service, but book a refreshed room. a five-star boutique hotel in Hanoi’s French Quarter, scored for what it is.

Hotel de l’Opera is a five-star boutique hotel in Hanoi’s French Quarter, best chosen for its walkable location and personal service rather than sprawling luxury facilities. The Opera House and Hoan Kiem Lake are close by. Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and clean rooms; breakfast also earns plenty of approval. It’s a strong pick for sightseeing with a more individual feel than a large business hotel.

Room selection matters: refreshed accommodation draws enthusiastic feedback, while older rooms still attract complaints about wear and awkward layouts. Phased room renovations remain unfinished according to management’s October 2026 response, so confirm your room’s condition and any disruptive work before booking. The pool is compact, and some guests report street or corridor noise. We’d skip it if absolute quiet or consistently polished luxury is essential.

• Best for: couples exploring central Hanoi; travelers who prefer boutique character; business travelers wanting a walkable base

• Watch out for: unfinished phased renovations; uneven room condition and soundproofing; compact pool

• Location: French Quarter setting near the Opera House and Hoan Kiem Lake; convenient for sightseeing on foot.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and appealing refreshed rooms; older accommodation can feel worn, with some awkward layouts.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across review sites, including repeated praise for housekeeping.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff are a consistent strength, though arrival service is not uniformly five-star.

• Amenities: Restaurants, bar, indoor pool, gym and spa; the pool is better for a dip than a pool-focused stay.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast inclusion varies; transfers and extra beds cost extra. Confirm renovation disruption and the exact room category.
