Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong beachfront choice for pools and service, less convincing for quiet escapes. A large upscale beachfront resort and convention hotel in Hollywood, scored for what it is.

This is a large upscale beachfront resort in Hollywood, not Fort Lauderdale proper, and it works best when you want most of your vacation on-site. Now Signia by Hilton Diplomat Beach Resort, it changed brands on May 1, 2026, following renovations to public spaces, dining and pools. We'd pick it for direct beach access, extensive pool areas and spacious rooms with water views. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean, comfortable rooms.

The trade-off is scale: this 1,000-room convention resort can feel busy rather than intimate. Dining is expensive, and the resort charge, paid valet parking and extra-cost beach umbrellas deserve attention before booking. Nearby restaurants and shops aren't plentiful within easy walking distance. It's a strong pick for families and resort-focused couples; we'd skip it for boutique character, walkable nightlife or an escape without add-on charges.

• Best for: Families wanting pools and beach access; Couples who enjoy large resorts; Conference travelers extending their stay

• Watch out for: Busy, convention-resort atmosphere; Resort charge, valet and beach-umbrella extras; Limited walkable off-site dining

• Location: Directly on Hollywood's beach, south of the Broadwalk; not central Fort Lauderdale.

• Rooms: Spacious and generally comfortable; choose the view and balcony category carefully.

• Cleanliness: Recent reviews are strongly positive overall, despite occasional housekeeping lapses.

• Service: Friendly front-desk, café and beach staff earn repeated praise across review sites.

• Amenities: Family and adults-only pools, direct beach access, spa, gym and several dining venues.

• Fees and surprises: Budget for the resort charge, paid valet, incidental deposit and extra-cost beach umbrellas.
