Axel's take: 7.9/10

Choose it for the fjord setting and breakfast, not polished rooms. a traditional mid-range waterfront hotel in Eidfjord, scored for what it is.

Vøringfoss is a traditional mid-range waterfront hotel, now part of Fjordtind Hotels. It’s a good base for exploring Hardanger, with Eidfjord’s village center close by and fjord-facing rooms that make the location count. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, helpful staff and generous breakfast. Our verdict: a solid scenic stopover rather than a hotel worth choosing for its interiors.

Room selection matters. Recent Tripadvisor reviews describe dated furnishings and uneven room quality, with some smaller doubles disappointing on comfort. More importantly, cruise ships berth directly outside and can block the fjord view—a drawback corroborated on Expedia. Tour groups can also make breakfast busy. Book the precise room category you want; we’d skip it if contemporary design or an uninterrupted waterfront outlook is essential.

  • Best for: Hardanger road trips; couples prioritizing fjord views; short scenic stopovers

  • Watch out for: cruise ships can block fjord views; dated and uneven room quality; busy breakfasts when groups stay

  • Location: Central Eidfjord waterfront, beside the cruise berth and close to village restaurants.

  • Rooms: Fjord-view and balcony categories are available; recent feedback suggests comfort varies by room.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness ratings, despite some reports of missed housekeeping.

  • Service: Generally friendly and helpful, with occasional lapses rather than a consistently poor pattern.

  • Amenities: Breakfast buffet, restaurant, bar, terrace and parking; more touring base than resort.

  • Fees and surprises: Expedia lists breakfast and self-parking as included; pets incur an extra charge.
