Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong business base with skyline views, but choose your room for quiet. a five-star city high-rise near Dubai World Trade Centre, scored for what it is.

Voco Dubai is a five-star city high-rise that makes most sense for World Trade Centre visits and metro-led sightseeing. We'd pick it for the spacious rooms, skyline views and dependable comfort rather than resort-style luxury. Tripadvisor and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and breakfast, while Expedia's strong cleanliness ratings reinforce the generally positive picture.

The compromises matter at this level: some furnishings look tired, and guests on multiple sites report nightclub bass reaching upper-floor rooms. Request a room away from nightlife rather than automatically choosing the highest floor. The outdoor pool is useful for a dip, but some guests find it small. We'd skip it for a quiet, pool-focused holiday; it's a stronger fit for travelers spending their days working or exploring Dubai.

• Best for: World Trade Centre visitors; metro-based city breaks; travelers who prioritize skyline views

• Watch out for: nightclub bass in some upper-floor rooms; some dated furnishings; pool can feel small

• Location: Close to World Trade Centre and its metro station; a practical city base rather than a beach setting.

• Rooms: Spacious rooms and impressive views draw praise, though some guests find the furnishings dated.

• Cleanliness: Generally a strength, supported by positive housekeeping feedback and strong Expedia cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff earn repeated praise, with occasional reception and valet inconsistencies.

• Amenities: Outdoor main and children's pools, gym, Spa Zen, sauna, steam rooms and several dining venues.

• Fees and surprises: City tourism fee applies; breakfast inclusion varies, airport transfers cost extra, and guest valet parking is complimentary.
