#8 of 9 hotels in Palm Jumeirah by Axel's take. Palm Jumeirah is #10 of 10 places to stay in Dubai. The best hotels in Palm Jumeirah, ranked · Where to stay in Dubai

Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong Palm beach holiday pick, but not consistently polished five-star luxury. a family-friendly five-star beachfront hotel with apartments on Palm Jumeirah, scored for what it is.

Dukes is a family-friendly five-star beachfront hotel with rooms and apartments, best chosen for its beach-and-pool setup rather than flawless luxury. We'd shortlist it for a relaxed Palm holiday: the infinity pool, lazy river and kids' club give families plenty to do, with Palm Jumeirah Mall across the road. Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and cleanliness; overall guest ratings remain strong.

The trade-offs matter at this level. Some rooms feel dated, and recent Expedia and Trip.com guests report meals occasionally moving to neighboring NH Collection. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests also flag half-board drink exclusions. Booking.com currently carries a notice about on-site development and nearby construction, with possible intermittent noise; confirm the scope before booking. It's a good resort-style base, but we'd skip it for guaranteed quiet or seamless luxury service.

  • Best for: families wanting pools and beach time; Palm holidays with shopping nearby; longer stays in apartments

  • Watch out for: on-site development and nearby construction notice; some meals may move to neighboring NH Collection; half-board drinks can cost extra

  • Location: Beachfront on the Palm's trunk, opposite Palm Jumeirah Mall; city sightseeing generally requires transport.

  • Rooms: Comfortable rooms, suites and apartments; entry rooms are compact, and some guests report dated finishes.

  • Cleanliness: A clear overall strength, supported by Expedia's high cleanliness rating and recent guest praise.

  • Service: Warm, helpful staff earn frequent praise, though check-in and problem handling are less consistent.

  • Amenities: Private beach, infinity pool, indoor pool, lazy river, gym and kids' club.

  • Fees and surprises: Tourism fee applies; parking is free; verify meal venues, drink inclusions and construction impact.
