Axel's take: 7.9/10

A dependable Deira base for clean rooms and metro access, with nightlife downstairs. a practical 4-star city hotel in Deira near Al Rigga Metro, scored for what it is.

Avenue Hotel is a practical 4-star in Deira, and we'd choose it for convenience rather than luxury. Al Rigga Metro, restaurants and everyday shopping are close by. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms and helpful staff, with recent Tripadvisor feedback also crediting housekeeping. The rooftop pool, gym and included parking make it a useful base for short city stays.

The trade-offs are a small pool, traditional room styling and an on-site nightclub: light sleepers should request a room away from entertainment venues. Breakfast feedback ranges from good to ordinary, and reception earns some criticism alongside the stronger service reports. It's a solid pick for travelers spending their days exploring Dubai; we'd skip it for a quiet resort-style break or polished luxury.

• Best for: metro-based city explorers; value-conscious business travelers; short stays in Deira

• Watch out for: on-site nightlife; request a quieter room; small rooftop pool; some uneven reception feedback

• Location: Close to Al Rigga Metro, with plenty of nearby restaurants and shops.

• Rooms: Comfortable, traditionally styled rooms rather than contemporary luxury.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com ratings and recent Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews.

• Service: Helpful staff receive frequent praise, though reception feedback is not uniformly positive.

• Amenities: Rooftop pool, gym, restaurants, bars, free Wi-Fi and included parking.

• Fees and surprises: Tourism tax is collected at the property; breakfast may cost extra depending on the booking.
