Stay for café evenings, not for Ahmedabad’s historic doorstep. Dining-led character carries it to sixth, but weak sightseeing access, sparse doorstep options and poor hotel value outweigh its evening appeal.
Thaltej and Sindhu Bhavan Road are for restaurant-led evenings and the newer western face of Ahmedabad. SBR is a recognized gathering street, while Thaltej gives some addresses access to the east–west metro. Choose this if your ideal evening involves coffee, dessert and dinner rather than returning to the Old City after sightseeing.
The catch is that Thaltej and SBR do not function as one seamless walking neighborhood. A convenient metro address and a convenient dinner address may be different places.
