A strong SMU base with personality, though room mechanics lag behind the makeover. a collegiate-themed, upscale boutique hotel across from SMU, scored for what it is.

Graduate Dallas is an upscale boutique hotel whose biggest advantage is its position across from SMU. Hilton announced the former Lumen’s relaunch in July 2025, pairing collegiate Texas decor with an outdoor pool and Los Charros Tex-Mex restaurant. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms, welcoming staff and campus convenience; Tripadvisor guests also highlight helpful service. It’s a strong pick for university visits and Park Cities weekends.

The makeover hasn’t eliminated every older-building drawback. Several Tripadvisor guests report loud air-conditioning, with some also describing worn fittings or awkward bathroom details. Those complaints matter, but sit alongside substantially more positive recent Expedia feedback. On-site parking is paid valet only, and Hilton lists a mandatory Texas Recovery Fee. We’d skip it if quiet room mechanics or consistently polished four-star finishes are priorities.

• Best for: SMU families and campus visitors; Park Cities weekends; Travelers who enjoy collegiate design

• Watch out for: Recurring reports of loud air-conditioning; Uneven room maintenance; Paid valet-only on-site parking

• Location: Across from SMU, with Snider Plaza dining nearby; particularly convenient for campus visits.

• Rooms: Distinctive collegiate decor and generally comfortable beds, but recurring AC noise and some worn fittings.

• Cleanliness: Recent Expedia feedback is predominantly positive; Tripadvisor includes exceptions rather than a consistent recent pattern.

• Service: Friendly front-desk and valet service earns repeated praise across Expedia and Tripadvisor.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, fitness center, free Wi-Fi and Los Charros restaurant; Hilton lists no EV charging.

• Fees and surprises: Mandatory Texas Recovery Fee, paid valet parking and pet fees; no on-site self-parking.
