Hotels in AustinA retro boutique motel on South Congress
8.6/10
A strong South Congress pick for retro character, friendly service and pool time.
Austin Motel is a retro boutique motel, not a full-service hotel, and we think its strongest selling point is stepping straight into South Congress. Its 41 rooms pair playful decor with simple motel comforts, while the kidney-shaped pool gives the property a sociable center. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, cleanliness and walkability. One complimentary parking space per room is a useful extra.
You’re paying for character and location rather than spacious, polished rooms. Some guests mention small bathrooms, aging furnishings or maintenance niggles; noise between rooms also surfaces, though feedback remains strongly positive overall. The pool welcomes day-pass visitors and hosts events, so don’t expect a private retreat. We’d choose it for a relaxed Austin weekend, but skip it if you need generous bathroom space, a gym or dependable hush.
