Caesars hotels rated: 4.8/10 for how they treat paying guests

Caesars makes more sense with Diamond status

Our take: We'd book Caesars selectively, not for a low room-only price[1][Axel data]. It suits casino-resort travelers who already hold Diamond status, which waives resort fees for one room per stay[2]. Without that waiver, resort fees and parking can undermine a cheap room, while cancellation terms need a close read[3][4][5][Axel data].

Best for

  • Existing Diamond members
  • Flexible-rate bargain hunters
  • Entertainment-focused Las Vegas trips

Watch out for

  • Resort fees plus parking
  • Separate incidental card holds
  • Conflicting cancellation guidance

Scorecard

Total-price honesty (20%)
3.0

Large resort fees extend to cheaper Las Vegas hotels, parking often costs extra, and fee relief generally requires higher status.

Cancellation flexibility (15%)
6.0

Refundable rates are common, but deadlines vary, deposits apply, and the app's 72-hour wording conflicts with Las Vegas's 48-hour policy.

Repriceability (15%)
5.0

Flexible reservations offer a route to lower prices, but existing-booking offer restrictions and unclear current guarantee procedures limit protection.

Channel and member-rate fairness (10%)
5.5

Free membership brings advertised discounts of 10% or more, while every third-party booking loses hotel-spend credits and elite-benefit eligibility remains unclear.

Loyalty value and fairness (10%)
4.5

Six-month Reward Credit expiry puts inactive balances at risk, while recent Tier Credit cuts affect some status-earning opportunities; Diamond's resort-fee waiver remains valuable, while Seven Stars upgrades and elite late checkout are availability-dependent.

Gotcha fees and terms (10%)
4.0

Separate incidental holds, paid room extras and property-specific early-departure penalties complicate the bill; Caesars Palace also documents minibar restocking charges.

Consistency of the stay (20%)

Hotels Axel has reviewed average 7.66 across 15 hotels, with none below 7; independent evidence is property-specific.

Resort fees change the room price

Caesars makes resort-fee relief a status benefit: Diamond and Seven Stars members are exempt for one room per stay, where applicable[2]. Federal rules have required mandatory lodging fees in advertised upfront totals since May 12, 2025, including website and app offers[6][7]. We could not confirm first-screen fee inclusion throughout Caesars' website and app, so we would not assume consistent presentation[6][7].

Rates Axel's suppliers quoted from September 26 to October 25, 2026 covered 16,938 rates at 10 US hotels, a small sample[Axel data]. All 10 hotels charged a resort fee on most rates, and the typical fee where recorded was $57 nightly, excluding taxes. Suppliers sometimes omit fees, so the 56% of quotes recording one is a floor, not a complete count.

Two October examples show that fees are not confined to the most expensive properties: Caesars Palace lists $54.95 nightly before tax, while Horseshoe Las Vegas lists $49.95[1]. A current parking guide quotes Caesars Palace guest self-parking at $20 daily and valet at $50, with event pricing possible[3]. Platinum and higher members receive free parking at many destinations, not every property[2].

The historical Cabral case concerned tax collected on internet access within resort fees, not upfront-price advertising[8]. The Nevada Supreme Court upheld dismissal in 2020 because the underlying tax statutes provided no private enforcement right; that is not a finding about today's price displays[8].

Check the deadline on your reservation

Caesars' general terms defer to each hotel's cancellation policy and allow offer-specific terms to override it[4]. The published Las Vegas policy requires 48 hours' notice, with the first night's room-and-tax deposit forfeited inside that window[9]. The October 2026 app listing instead advertises free 72-hour cancellation, so neither wording should replace your reservation's actual deadline[5][4].

Across the same rates at 10 hotels, 78% were refundable[Axel data]. Of those refundable rates, 10% allowed free cancellation less than 24 hours before check-in, 60% required 24 to 72 hours, and 30% required at least 72 hours. Refundability was common in this small sample, but last-minute flexibility was not.

New offers generally cannot be applied to existing reservations, and some offers are explicitly non-refundable and non-amendable[4]. For an eligible flexible booking, cancelling before its deadline and booking again is a practical route to a lower price, not a promised automatic adjustment[4][9]. Ask about an adjustment first, because guests have reported app restrictions on replacement bookings with overlapping dates or previously used offer codes[10][11].

Caesars still advertises a Best Rate Guarantee, but we would not rely on it as broad price-drop protection[5][12]. Its still-published December 2022 guidance allows four hours to claim and excludes claims within three days of arrival; we could not confirm today's complete procedure[12]. That guidance excludes AAA, AARP, convention, direct-marketing and third-party airfare-package rates[12]. As a property-specific example, Caesars Southern Indiana promises a match plus another 10% off, but that page does not establish chain-wide compensation[13].

Direct bookings earn more

Caesars Rewards is free to join, with enrollment restricted to adults aged 21 or older[14]. The 2026 benefits table advertises 10% room-rate discounts for Gold and Platinum and 15% for Diamond through Seven Stars, subject to restrictions and blackout dates[2]. General offer discounts apply to the room rate unless stated otherwise and cannot normally be combined with other offers[4].

Qualifying Caesars.com reservations earn one Reward Credit and one Tier Credit per dollar of room rate and resort fees[15]. Every third-party booking loses those hotel-spend credits, not just bookings through a particular travel site[15]. Caesars Rewards hotel offers also require direct booking, with some available only through the website or app[4].

Do not assume every elite benefit disappears with a third-party booking: the published resort-fee waiver and check-in provisions do not clearly settle that eligibility[2]. Get confirmation from the hotel before relying on a waiver or priority benefit on such a reservation[2]. Telephone reservations may also carry a higher rate, so compare the website or app before booking by phone[4].

Useful status, short-lived credits

Reward Credits pay eligible charges, while Tier Credits qualify members for status[16][17]. The entire Reward Credit balance expires unless the member earns at least one credit within each six-month period; redemption alone does not meet the published rule[14]. We'd treat this as an active-customer program, not somewhere to leave a forgotten balance[14].

NerdWallet's September 2026 guide values hotel redemptions at 100 Reward Credits per dollar, or 1 cent each[18]. Online Reward Credit reservations are available at select locations, while checkout redemption is available at any Caesars Rewards destination hotel[16]. Combined with the standard one-credit-per-dollar hotel earning rate, that is roughly a 1% return in hotel-credit value before promotions[18][15].

Diamond requires 15,000 Tier Credits and provides a resort-fee exemption for one room per stay, where applicable[17][2]. That waiver is the program's clearest hotel benefit, but complimentary early check-in and late checkout depend on availability[2]. Even Seven Stars upgrades are availability-dependent and may exclude suites[19].

Recent restrictions matter: from February 1, 2025, Wyndham status obtained solely through a credit card stopped qualifying for a Caesars status match[20]. Daily Tier Credit bonuses also ended at three regional casinos on August 1, 2026[16]. The no-fee Visa now awards 2,500 annual Tier Credits for $5,000 of spending, compared with 5,000 in the historical 2024 booklet; we could not confirm the exact change date or notice period[21][22].

Budget for holds and room extras

Caesars' Las Vegas policy distinguishes the reservation deposit from a separate incidental deposit at check-in[23]. For arrivals within three days of booking, it also requires the same credit card used for the reservation deposit to be presented for verification[23].

Two property examples show why the amount matters: Harrah's Atlantic City requires a $150 incidental deposit, while Expedia lists Caesars Palace at $100 per accommodation per day[24][25]. Harrah's Atlantic City warns that debit-card refunds can take 10 to 14 days, depending on the bank[24]. These are property terms, not one chain-wide hold schedule[24][25].

Requested refrigerators generally carry a daily fee in Las Vegas, although Paris and Planet Hollywood include them as standard[26]. At participating Las Vegas PetStay hotels, guests must reserve designated dog-friendly rooms, with a limit of two dogs weighing no more than 50 pounds each[27][28]. Confirm the pet fee, deposit and kennel requirements before booking rather than treating a dog-friendly room as an ordinary room[28][29].

Other penalties are property-specific: for example, United Vacations lists a one-night early-departure charge at Caesars Palace[30]. In a June 2025 BBB response, that hotel said removing a minibar item automatically triggered a restocking fee even without consumption[31]. Leave minibar items in place and confirm the early-departure charge before shortening a stay[30][31].

Pick the hotel, not the name

Across 15 hotels Axel has reviewed in October 2026, the average was 7.66 out of 10[Axel data]. Only 13% reached 8 or above, although none fell below 7. This small sample points to adequate stays rather than a dependable run of standouts.

ACSI's 2026 lodging results do not publish a separate Caesars company or hotel-brand score[32]. None of the requested Caesars brands appears in J.D. Power's published 2026 profiled-brand list either[33]. Neither provides a broad lodging benchmark that would justify calling this a uniformly strong hotel chain[32][33].

For two property-level examples, Paris and Planet Hollywood both display 8.4 out of 10 on Expedia[34][35]. Paris's Tripadvisor summary nevertheless flags inconsistent service and maintenance concerns alongside praise for friendly staff and its location[36]. We'd lean toward these two within the Las Vegas portfolio, while checking the particular room and recent reviews[34][35][36].

Two other Las Vegas examples show a wider range: Harrah's displays 8.2 on Expedia and Flamingo 7.8[37][38]. Flamingo's property-condition score is lower, at 7.6[37]. These rolling guest ratings do not establish how regional Harrah's, Horseshoe, Caesars or Tropicana hotels perform[37][38].

  • Axel's take, 15 Caesars Entertainment hotels reviewed: average 7.7/10; 13% score 8 or higher, 0% score below 7. Each hotel is scored for what it is, against its class and price. Across all hotels Axel has reviewed, the average is 8.1 and 8% score below 7.
  • Rates Axel's suppliers quoted, September 26 to October 25, 2026: 16,938 rates at 10 hotels. 78% were refundable, and 10% of those could be cancelled free until less than 24 hours before check-in. 100% of hotels added a mandatory resort, destination or similar fee to most rates (typically $57 a night where charged).

Which Caesars Entertainment brands to book

  • Caesars Palace (Mixed): AAA's 2026 Four Diamond list includes the hotel, but budget for a substantial resort fee and separate parking[39][1][3]. The Four-Star Forbes award applies only to THE VILLAS, not the entire hotel[40].
  • Nobu Hotel at Caesars Palace (Mixed): A 182-room boutique hotel within the larger resort, not a separate escape from its setting[41]. Expedia displays 8.0 overall despite a stronger 8.8 cleanliness score[42].
  • Paris Las Vegas (Our pick): One of the better-supported Las Vegas choices, with an Expedia score of 8.4 and standard refrigerators[34][26]. Service and maintenance feedback remains mixed, so choose the room carefully[36].
  • Planet Hollywood (Our pick): We'd shortlist it for an entertainment-focused stay: Expedia displays 8.4 overall, and refrigerators are standard[43][35][26]. The listed resort fee is still $54.95 nightly before tax[1].
  • Flamingo (Mixed): Price it against stronger alternatives after adding the $49.95 nightly pretax resort fee[1]. Its Expedia score of 7.8 trails the other four Las Vegas properties compared here[37][34][35][42][38].
  • The LINQ (Mixed): The company positions it around accessible modern accommodations, but the listed resort fee is $49.95 nightly before tax[43][1]. Judge it on the total price rather than assuming a cheaper room means smaller mandatory charges[1].
  • Horseshoe Las Vegas (Mixed): This is the rebranded former Bally's, not a newly built hotel[44]. Standard refrigerators help, but the listed resort fee remains $49.95 nightly before tax[26][1].
  • Harrah's (Mixed): Harrah's Las Vegas is a reasonable shortlist at an Expedia score of 8.2, with a listed $49.95 nightly pretax resort fee[38][1]. Do not carry that judgment across the regional portfolio without checking the individual hotel[38].

How to book Caesars Entertainment well

  • Choose Caesars with existing Diamond status if the one-room resort-fee waiver materially changes your total, but confirm its application to your reservation[2].
  • Before you book, compare the full stay cost including resort fees, taxes and parking rather than the room-rate discount alone[1][3][4].
  • Choose a refundable rate if plans may change, and save the exact cancellation deadline from the confirmation because the app and Las Vegas FAQ differ[4][9][5].
  • Before cancelling to capture a lower price, ask about an adjustment and check whether your offer code can be reused[4][10][11].
  • Before booking Harrah's Atlantic City with a debit card, allow for a $150 incidental deposit and a possible 10 to 14 day refund wait[24].
  • Before leaving Reward Credits unused, arrange qualifying earning within six months because redemption alone does not extend their life[14].

What would raise the score

  • Publish and maintain a verifiable fee-inclusive first-price policy across the website, app and booking partners.
  • Use one clearly dated cancellation policy across the app, FAQs and reservation confirmations.
  • Allow eligible flexible reservations to be repriced without cancellation and publish current best-rate claim terms.
  • Extend Reward Credit validity beyond six months and make elite-benefit eligibility explicit for every booking channel.

Questions about Caesars Entertainment

Does Caesars charge resort fees even at its cheaper hotels?

Yes: October 2026 listings put Flamingo and The LINQ at $49.95 per room per night before tax[1]. Diamond and Seven Stars members have a published exemption for one room per stay, where applicable[2].

Can I cancel a Caesars hotel reservation for free?

It depends on the rate and hotel: the published Las Vegas policy requires 48 hours' notice, but individual offers can override it[4][9]. The app advertises 72-hour cancellation, so use the written deadline on your actual reservation rather than assuming a chain-wide rule[5][4].

Will I earn Caesars Rewards credits through a third-party booking?

No hotel-spend Reward Credits or Tier Credits: the published earning rule requires a qualifying Caesars.com reservation[15]. We could not confirm a blanket rule for which elite benefits survive third-party bookings, including the resort-fee waiver[2].

What are Caesars Reward Credits worth, and do they expire?

Hotel redemptions generally provide 1 cent per Reward Credit, according to NerdWallet's September 2026 guide[18]. Your entire balance expires unless you earn at least one Reward Credit within each six-month period[14].

Can Caesars lower my rate after I book?

There is no general promise to apply a new offer to an existing reservation; the standard offer terms prohibit that unless an exception is stated[4]. An eligible flexible reservation may let you cancel before the deadline and rebook, while some guests report telephone adjustments[4][9][11]. Do not rely on the Best Rate Guarantee without confirming current terms, because the detailed published instructions date to December 2022[12].

Is The Cromwell still a current Caesars hotel?

Not under that name: it was converted into the 188-room Vanderpump Hotel, which celebrated its official opening on June 11, 2026[45]. Treat older Cromwell reviews and offers as historical rather than descriptions of the current hotel[45].
