Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong practical base with clean rooms, easy transit and family-friendly extras. a budget-friendly, limited-service hotel beside Banff Trail CTrain, scored for what it is.

This is a budget-friendly, limited-service hotel that gets the important things right. We'd pick it for university visits, McMahon Stadium events or a Calgary stay without downtown parking hassles. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms and helpful staff; Booking.com feedback backs up the comfortable beds and convenient location. Included breakfast, free heated underground parking and an indoor pool with waterslide make it particularly useful for families.

The trade-off is convenience rather than downtown atmosphere: you're beside the CTrain, not in the city centre. Some guests report late-night hallway and neighboring-room noise, although others find their rooms quiet. Breakfast earns mostly positive feedback but remains a standard chain buffet, and there's no on-site restaurant. We'd skip it for a quiet, full-service getaway; for a straightforward city base, it's a strong pick.

• Best for: families wanting a pool and waterslide; university and hospital visitors; travelers using the CTrain

• Watch out for: occasional late-night guest noise; outside the downtown core; credit card required for incidentals

• Location: Across from Banff Trail CTrain, convenient for McMahon Stadium and the university area.

• Rooms: Guests commonly praise spacious rooms and comfortable beds; some report noise from other guests.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Expedia feedback and Booking.com guest ratings.

• Service: Mostly praised as friendly and helpful, with occasional complaints about problem handling.

• Amenities: Included breakfast, indoor pool, waterslide, whirlpool and gym; no on-site restaurant.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and Wi-Fi are included; Expedia lists a credit-card incidental hold and does not accept cash.
