Axel's take: 6.7/10

A practical budget stop with friendly staff, but uneven rooms and lingering odors. a no-frills 2-star motel near McMahon Stadium, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 2-star motel makes most sense for a short, budget-minded stay near McMahon Stadium or the University of Calgary. Banff Trail CTrain station is walkable, and breakfast, Wi-Fi, in-room fridges and microwaves cover the basics. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests praise helpful staff and clean, comfortable rooms; several guests also mention improvements following renovations in 2025. We'd consider it a functional overnight stop, not somewhere to spend much downtime.

The refresh hasn't made the experience consistent. Recent Trip.com reviews still mention carpet or bathroom odors, audible footsteps and minor maintenance problems, while breakfast gets mixed reactions. There's no elevator, and parking policies differ between booking sites, so confirm those and the deposit before arrival. We'd skip it if you're sensitive to smells, need step-free access upstairs or want reliably polished surroundings.

• Best for: budget-minded overnight stays; McMahon Stadium visitors; travelers using the CTrain

• Watch out for: recurring odor and maintenance complaints; footstep noise and no elevator; confirm parking charges and deposit

• Location: Walkable to McMahon Stadium and Banff Trail CTrain; convenient for university visits.

• Rooms: Some guests praise refreshed rooms and comfortable beds; others report odors, noise and maintenance faults.

• Cleanliness: Recent feedback is often positive, but odor complaints mean consistency remains a concern.

• Service: Friendly, accommodating staff are a recurring strength across recent reviews.

• Amenities: Continental breakfast, free Wi-Fi, gym, laundry, fridges and microwaves; breakfast opinions vary.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a deposit, dog fees and paid parking; Booking.com lists free parking, so verify directly.
