Axel's take: 7.4/10

Useful budget extras and friendly staff, but room quality varies. a no-frills 2-star motel-style hotel near the university, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 2-star motel-style hotel is a practical budget base for university visits and McMahon Stadium, with Banff Trail C-Train station a short walk away. We'd consider it for the included breakfast, free parking and indoor pool rather than its looks. Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean, comfortable rooms; Booking.com's ratings also favor service and value.

The catch is inconsistency: recent guests describe dated rooms, maintenance shortcomings and train noise in exposed locations. Some rooms require stairs, so confirm access before booking. Breakfast is simple, and the parking lot can feel tight. A September 2026 Reddit guest also reported finding a bedbug; that is an unverified individual report, not evidence of a property-wide problem. It's a reasonable short-stay option, but we'd skip it if quiet, uniform room standards are priorities.

• Best for: budget-conscious university visitors; McMahon Stadium trips; short stays with C-Train access

• Watch out for: uneven room condition and maintenance; train noise in some rooms; stairs to some rooms

• Location: Near McMahon Stadium and the university, about four minutes' walk from Banff Trail station.

• Rooms: Basic and variable in condition; confirm a quieter location and elevator access if needed.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive across booking sites, alongside an isolated September 2026 Reddit bedbug report.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn repeated praise; some guests report unresolved maintenance issues.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, fitness room, free Wi-Fi and simple continental breakfast; some rooms have kitchenettes.

• Fees and surprises: Free parking has limited spaces; Expedia lists a security deposit.
