Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong downtown pick for kitchen space and friendly service, not polished surroundings. a practical, mid-range all-suite hotel in downtown Calgary, scored for what it is.

This practical, mid-range all-suite hotel makes a strong case for choosing space over style. Full kitchens and roomy layouts suit families and longer stays, while the location puts downtown restaurants, the CTrain and Bow River pathways within walking distance. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful front-desk staff, comfortable beds and clean rooms. We'd choose it for a useful downtown base rather than a hotel-led vacation.

The building's age shows in dated fixtures and small bathrooms, and some guests report sound carrying between rooms. Those drawbacks don't outweigh the broadly positive feedback, but light sleepers should take note. Parking costs extra, and Expedia currently lists grab-and-go breakfast as chargeable, despite older descriptions promising it free. There's no pool or hot tub. Skip it if modern finishes, generous bathrooms or resort-style facilities matter more than kitchen space.

• Best for: families wanting kitchen facilities; longer downtown stays; car-free city breaks

• Watch out for: dated fixtures and small bathrooms; sound transfer in some rooms; paid parking and breakfast

• Location: Walkable downtown base near restaurants, the CTrain and Bow River pathways.

• Rooms: Spacious kitchen-equipped suites; comfortable beds, but some dated fittings and cramped bathrooms.

• Cleanliness: Broadly praised across recent reviews, with occasional reports of missed cleaning details.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are a consistent strength across guest-review sites.

• Amenities: Full kitchens, free Wi-Fi, fitness centre and guest laundry; no pool or hot tub.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and pets cost extra; confirm breakfast inclusion rather than relying on older listings.
