Axel's take: 8.4/10

A dependable downtown base with helpful staff, but street noise is the catch. a full-service 4-star business hotel beside Calgary Tower, scored for what it is.

This full-service 4-star beside Calgary Tower is a strong pick for downtown sightseeing or meetings, with direct access to the TELUS Convention Centre. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff; Tripadvisor’s overall ratings are similarly strong. We’d choose it for practical comfort and walkability rather than boutique character. ONE18 EMPIRE and the newly expanded gym add appeal.

The main compromise is noise: Tripadvisor and Expedia guests report street disturbance, sometimes even on higher floors. Nearby Werklund Centre and Olympic Plaza construction is also ongoing. Valet parking and breakfast cost extra, and complimentary room Wi-Fi has booking and membership conditions. We’d skip it if quiet sleep or a pool is essential; current listings show no pool despite older descriptions suggesting otherwise.

  • Best for: TELUS Convention Centre attendees; car-free downtown sightseeing; business travelers who use the gym

  • Watch out for: street noise, including on higher floors; nearby Werklund Centre and Olympic Plaza construction; paid parking and breakfast; no pool

  • Location: Beside Calgary Tower, close to Stephen Avenue and transit, with direct convention-centre access.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds and generally well-kept rooms; higher floors do not guarantee quiet.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent Expedia reviews and Tripadvisor’s aggregate ratings.

  • Service: Recent guests repeatedly praise friendly, professional staff and helpful problem handling.

  • Amenities: Expanded gym opened in 2026; restaurant, Starbucks and eligibility-based M Club lounge; no pool currently listed.

  • Fees and surprises: Valet, breakfast and pets carry charges; free in-room Wi-Fi is conditional. Nearby construction continues toward 2028.
