Axel's take: 6.7/10

Useful transit access and friendly staff, but tired rooms make this a compromise. an older, budget-oriented 3-star hotel near the C-Train, scored for what it is.

Amenida is an older, budget-oriented 3-star hotel whose strongest selling point is the short walk to 39 Avenue C-Train station. We'd consider it for a practical Calgary stopover, not a stay built around hotel comforts. Recent Expedia guests often praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and easy parking; Tripadvisor guests also appreciate the transit access. There's reasonable value here if dated surroundings don't bother you.

The compromise is inconsistent upkeep. Reviews across Tripadvisor and Trip.com describe worn carpets, unreliable air conditioning and road or train noise, alongside genuinely positive stays. Pool availability has varied, and recent guests report no restaurant, so verify facilities rather than trusting the long amenity list. We'd skip it for light sleepers or anyone wanting reliably polished rooms and full-service facilities.

• Best for: budget-minded short stays; travelers using the C-Train; drivers wanting included parking

• Watch out for: dated rooms and uneven maintenance; road and train noise; variable facility availability

• Location: A short walk to 39 Avenue station makes downtown and Stampede trips straightforward.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds earn praise, but worn bathrooms and cooling problems recur.

• Cleanliness: Many recent guests report clean rooms; dirty carpets and housekeeping lapses also recur.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength, though complaint handling is less consistent.

• Amenities: Wi-Fi and parking are included; pool reports conflict, and recent guests report no restaurant.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a damage deposit and pet charges; confirm facility availability before booking.
