#7 of 9 hotels in Revolution Square & Calea Victoriei by Axel's take. Revolution Square & Calea Victoriei is #1 of 7 places to stay in Bucharest. The best hotels in Revolution Square & Calea Victoriei, ranked · Where to stay in Bucharest

Axel's take: 8.3/10

A well-located city base with dependable basics, though rooms could use a refresh. a small, independent 4-star near Calea Victoriei, scored for what it is.

Berthelot is a small, independent 4-star near Calea Victoriei, and we'd pick it for practical comfort and location rather than luxury. The Athenaeum, museums and Cișmigiu Park are within walking distance. Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests broadly agree on the strengths: clean rooms, helpful staff and a breakfast buffet with a good spread of hot and cold choices. It's a strong option for a sightseeing break without paying for grand-hotel extras.

The trade-offs are mostly in the rooms: several guests describe dated furnishings, firm mattresses and inconsistent shower pressure or temperature. Service wins plenty of praise, although handling room requests isn't always smooth. Parking is limited and chargeable, so arrange it ahead. We'd skip it if contemporary interiors and reliably plush beds matter more than a central address.

  • Best for: couples on sightseeing breaks; travelers prioritizing walkability; business travelers wanting a small central hotel

  • Watch out for: dated furnishings and firm mattresses; reports of inconsistent showers; limited paid parking

  • Location: Near Calea Victoriei, with cultural sights and Cișmigiu Park within walking distance.

  • Rooms: Standard doubles and twins are about 20 m²; some guests find furnishings dated and beds firm.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings across sites; recent praise outweighs occasional housekeeping complaints.

  • Service: Usually helpful and welcoming, with some exceptions around room allocation and problem handling.

  • Amenities: Bel Canto restaurant, bar, free Wi-Fi, meeting facilities and paid airport transfers.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking costs extra; check breakfast inclusion and city tax. The official site also flags an exchange-rate markup.
