Axel's take: 9.1/10

An excellent choice for apartment space and hotel convenience, outside the Old Town. a modern 4-star apartment hotel near Piața Romană, scored for what it is.

Athina is a modern 4-star apartment hotel, and a strong pick if space matters more than grand public areas. Its generously sized suites combine separate living areas, kitchens and balconies with hotel housekeeping and reception. Booking.com, Tripadvisor and recent Expedia guests consistently praise the cleanliness, comfortable rooms and helpful staff; breakfast also earns unusually steady approval. For families and longer stays, that combination makes it excellent for its class.

The compromise is location rather than room quality: this is not an Old Town doorstep address, so allow a substantial walk or a ride for sightseeing there. There is no pool or fitness center, and parking costs extra. Check whether breakfast is included in your booking. We'd skip it for a facilities-heavy getaway or a nightlife-first weekend, but choose it confidently for a spacious city base.

• Best for: families wanting separate bedrooms; longer stays with self-catering; travelers prioritizing space and cleanliness

• Watch out for: a substantial walk to the Old Town; no pool or fitness center; parking and some breakfast plans cost extra

• Location: Near Piața Romană, but expect roughly 25–40 minutes on foot to the Old Town.

• Rooms: Apartment-style layouts with kitchens, living areas and balconies; generous space is the standout.

• Cleanliness: A particularly strong signal across Booking.com, Tripadvisor and recent Expedia reviews.

• Service: Generally helpful and welcoming, with recent Expedia guests reinforcing the positive picture.

• Amenities: Restaurant, buffet breakfast and 24-hour reception; no pool or fitness center.

• Fees and surprises: Paid parking with height restrictions; breakfast may be extra, and Expedia lists a city tax.
