Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong family base with excellent pools, helpful staff and practical condo comforts. A mid-range mountain condo and timeshare resort near the ski slopes, scored for what it is.

Grand Timber Lodge is a mid-range condo and timeshare resort, not a conventional luxury hotel, and it’s a strong pick for a family mountain trip. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean accommodations, helpful staff, pools and hot tubs, and the convenient town shuttle. Studios have kitchenettes; larger condos offer more room to spread out and cook. The amenities give families plenty to do after skiing or hiking.

The main reservations are room comfort and booking details. Several guests report overly warm rooms, while some interiors still need updating. Management confirms phased building renovations, so ask about work near your assigned unit. A nightly Vacation Experience Fee applies to nonowners, and some promotional packages require an ownership presentation. We’d skip it if reliably cool rooms or polished luxury matter more than space and family facilities.

Best for: Families wanting pools and activities; Skiers who prefer condo accommodations; Longer self-catering stays
Watch out for: Reports of overly warm rooms; Phased renovations and varying room condition; Vacation Experience Fee and presentation-linked packages
Location: Near Peaks 8 and 9; guests consistently praise the town shuttle and convenient slope access.
Rooms: Kitchenette studios and larger kitchen-equipped condos; some guests flag heat and dated finishes.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guest feedback.
Service: Staff and shuttle drivers earn repeated praise for friendliness and helpfulness.
Amenities: Indoor/outdoor pools, hot tubs, fitness facilities, movie theaters and an on-site restaurant.
Fees and surprises: Nonowners pay a nightly Vacation Experience Fee; check presentation requirements, renovation impacts and the 10 a.m. checkout.
