#5 of 5 hotels in Highway 165 & Table Rock Dam by Axel's take. Highway 165 & Table Rock Dam is #5 of 6 places to stay in Branson. The best hotels in Highway 165 & Table Rock Dam, ranked · Where to stay in Branson

Axel's take: 7.4/10

A practical family base with improving reviews, but leave old waterpark expectations behind. an older, family-friendly mid-range hotel beside a theater, scored for what it is.

Branson Hillside is an older, family-friendly mid-range hotel, not the full resort its former Welk identity might suggest. We'd consider it for a good-value Branson trip with a car, especially for events at the neighboring theater. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, helpful staff and the included hot breakfast; mini golf and a playground add useful family appeal. New ownership is confirmed, and the latest feedback is more encouraging than the 2025 reports.

The trade-offs are room consistency and reduced resort facilities. Tripadvisor and Priceline guests describe dampness and maintenance shortcomings, although newer Expedia reviews are mostly positive. Crucially, indoor-pool and waterpark access is no longer available: the hotel offers a seasonal outdoor pool, closed in winter. We'd skip it for a pool-centered winter getaway or if reliably polished rooms matter more than value.

  • Best for: value-minded families with a car; guests attending neighboring theater events; travelers preferring a quieter base

  • Watch out for: no indoor-pool or waterpark access; past dampness and maintenance complaints; driving needed for most outings

  • Location: Quiet Highway 165 setting near Table Rock attractions; the hotel recommends having a car.

  • Rooms: Some guests find rooms small; older reports flag humidity, while recent feedback is more favorable.

  • Cleanliness: Recent Expedia guests commonly praise cleanliness, though Tripadvisor feedback remains less consistent.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength in recent reviews.

  • Amenities: Seasonal outdoor pool, mini golf, playground, restaurant and free Wi-Fi; no indoor-pool access.

  • Fees and surprises: Expedia lists breakfast and self-parking as included; older resort photos can misrepresent available facilities.
