Axel's take: 8.1/10

A strong sightseeing base, with small rooms and less full-service polish than expected. A historic 4-star boutique hotel in Boston’s West End, scored for what it is.

Eurostars The Boxer is an 80-room, 4-star boutique hotel in a historic flatiron building, and we'd pick it for exploring Boston rather than spending afternoons indoors. TD Garden, North Station and downtown sights are within easy walking distance. Tripadvisor and Hotels.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean rooms; the overall picture is comfortably positive, though Booking.com is more reserved.

The compromises are space and full-service polish. Small rooms recur across sites, while mattress comfort divides guests and some report noisy heating or cooling. Recent Tripadvisor guests report the Bulfinch Social bar unavailable; Hotels.com feedback also describes breakfast-only dining, so don't count on evening service. Expedia lists a nightly resort fee, and parking is off-site. It's a strong pick for sightseeing couples and Garden events; we'd skip it for spacious rooms or dependable evening dining.

• Best for: TD Garden concerts and games; Couples on sightseeing breaks; Travelers exploring without a car

• Watch out for: Compact rooms and mixed mattress feedback; Reportedly unavailable bar and limited evening dining; Nightly resort fee and off-site parking

• Location: Walkable to TD Garden, North Station, the Freedom Trail and North End.

• Rooms: Compact layouts are the main recurring drawback; bed comfort and climate-control noise receive mixed feedback.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Tripadvisor, Expedia and Hotels.com feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff attract repeated praise across sites.

• Amenities: The hotel confirms breakfast and a 24-hour gym; recent guests report the bar unavailable and dining limited.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a nightly resort fee; the hotel confirms no on-site parking and a nearby garage arrangement.
