Axel's take: 7.7/10

A practical riverside base, but dated rooms and extra charges temper the appeal. a mid-range 3-star riverside business hotel, scored for what it is.

This mid-range, 3-star Courtyard beside the Charles River is a solid Cambridge base rather than a destination hotel. Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise helpful staff and clean rooms, while river-facing rooms add appealing views. We'd consider it for university visits or business trips, especially if on-site parking matters. Central Square's subway is roughly a 15–20-minute walk away, so don't mistake the riverside address for downtown convenience.

The compromises are aging bathrooms, uneven room condition and extras that weaken the value. Parking and breakfast cost extra, and a mandatory destination fee includes dining credit rather than making meals free. Expedia also flags neighboring-building construction and possible noise; check its status before booking. Although cleanliness feedback is predominantly positive, separate recent guest accounts report mice, without clear evidence of resolution. We'd skip it if updated rooms, immediate subway access or reassurance on pest control are priorities.

• Best for: university visitors; Cambridge business trips; travelers needing on-site parking

• Watch out for: destination fee and paid parking; neighboring construction and dated bathrooms; recent mouse reports

• Location: Charles River setting; allow roughly 15–20 minutes to walk to Central Square's subway.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and worthwhile river views, but several guests describe dated bathrooms and furnishings.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings, tempered by separate recent mouse reports with no verified resolution.

• Service: Helpful front-desk staff are a consistent strength across review sites.

• Amenities: Breakfast bistro, Japanese restaurant, small 24-hour gym and EV charging; Marriott lists alternate-day housekeeping.

• Fees and surprises: Mandatory destination fee includes dining credit; parking and breakfast are extra. Expedia flags neighboring construction.
