#6 of 9 hotels in College Drive & Citiplace by Axel's take. College Drive & Citiplace is #3 of 6 places to stay in Baton Rouge. The best hotels in College Drive & Citiplace, ranked · Where to stay in Baton Rouge

Axel's take: 7.9/10

Good everyday value and welcoming staff, but highway noise is the catch. a no-frills budget chain hotel beside I-10, scored for what it is.

Tru by Hilton Baton Rouge Citiplace is a no-frills budget chain hotel that makes sense for a short, car-based stay. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and friendly staff; Booking.com’s feedback is broadly positive too. Free hot breakfast, parking and Wi-Fi help the value, while the outdoor pool, gym and lobby pool table add useful extras. Restaurants within walking distance are another practical plus.

The main compromise is soundproofing: highway noise and audible neighbors recur across guest reviews, so light sleepers should look elsewhere or request a room away from I-10. Breakfast earns plenty of praise, but some guests report limited choices or food running out. We'd choose it for an uncomplicated overnight or LSU visit, not a quiet retreat or full-service hotel experience.

Best for: road-trippers stopping overnight; budget-conscious LSU visitors; short business stays with a car
Watch out for: highway noise and thin walls; uneven breakfast replenishment; seasonal outdoor pool
Location: Convenient for I-10 and nearby restaurants; expect to drive to LSU and downtown.
Rooms: Simple rooms with refrigerators and generally comfortable beds; sound insulation is the weak point.
Cleanliness: Recent Expedia reviews strongly favor clean rooms, though complaints elsewhere show some inconsistency.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength, especially in recent reviews.
Amenities: Free hot breakfast and Wi-Fi, gym, lobby pool table and outdoor pool—not an indoor pool.
Fees and surprises: Self-parking is free; pets incur a nonrefundable fee and have size and number restrictions.
