#6 of 7 hotels in Port Allen by Axel's take. Port Allen is #5 of 6 places to stay in Baton Rouge. The best hotels in Port Allen, ranked · Where to stay in Baton Rouge

Axel's take: 6.3/10

Friendly staff and highway convenience, but room quality is too uneven for an easy recommendation. a basic 2-star roadside motel off I-10 in Port Allen, scored for what it is.

Port Allen Inn is a basic 2-star roadside motel off I-10, across the river from Baton Rouge. It's a workable budget stop rather than a dependable all-rounder. Recent Expedia guests and Google reviewers repeatedly praise helpful staff, and many report clean rooms, comfortable beds and quiet nights. Free parking, Wi-Fi, microwaves and mini-fridges cover the practical basics.

The catch is consistency. Guest ratings range from middling on Expedia to better on Booking.com, while recent reviews also describe stained bedding, unpleasant smells, insects and faulty fixtures. Enough travelers report these problems that we'd inspect the room before settling in. The outdoor pool is listed, but sites disagree about its season, so confirm availability. It's best for undemanding drivers needing an overnight stop; we'd skip it if reliable cleanliness or a polished room matters most.

Best for: budget-conscious road trippers; short overnight stops
Watch out for: uneven housekeeping and room maintenance; recurring insect and odor complaints; confirm pool availability
Location: Convenient for I-10 in Port Allen; a driving base rather than a downtown Baton Rouge stay.
Rooms: Basic rooms with microwaves and mini-fridges; comfort earns praise, but worn furnishings and broken fixtures recur.
Cleanliness: Many recent guests report clean rooms, but repeated complaints about bedding, odors and insects undermine consistency.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the clearest recurring strength across Expedia and Google reviews.
Amenities: Free parking and Wi-Fi, guest laundry and an outdoor pool; no elevators, and pool-season listings conflict.
Fees and surprises: Pet charges and restrictions apply according to Expedia; confirm terms directly because listings differ.
