Axel's take: 4.8/10

Free parking and friendly staff cannot outweigh recurring cleanliness and maintenance problems. a no-frills 2-star roadside motel off I-35, scored for what it is.

This is a no-frills 2-star roadside motel, now branded Super 8 rather than La Quinta. Free parking, WiFi and rooms with microwaves and mini-fridges cover the practical basics. Several recent Expedia guests praise helpful reception staff, and some report clean, comfortable rooms. But the overall picture across Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor is weak even for budget accommodation. We'd treat it as a fallback, not a dependable Austin base.

The recurring problems are dirty bathrooms, worn or broken fixtures, nighttime noise and, in multiple late-2026 reviews, cockroaches. Several guests also describe feeling uncomfortable around the property after dark. Don't count on a pool: recent guests report none, and Wyndham doesn't advertise one. Nearby I-35 Capital Express South construction adds another travel complication. We'd skip it for family vacations, light sleepers or anyone prioritizing reliably clean surroundings.

• Best for: budget drivers needing a short stop; pet owners with flexible expectations

• Watch out for: recurring cleanliness and cockroach reports; nighttime noise and guest safety concerns; no pool; nearby I-35 construction

• Location: Roadside South Austin setting, roughly five miles from downtown; better suited to drivers.

• Rooms: Microwaves and mini-fridges are advertised, but guests repeatedly flag worn fittings and broken equipment.

• Cleanliness: Some clean-room reports, outweighed by recurring bathroom grime, odors and recent cockroach complaints.

• Service: Helpful front-desk staff are a recurring bright spot, including in otherwise negative reviews.

• Amenities: Free WiFi, parking and a light breakfast are advertised; do not expect a pool.

• Fees and surprises: Pets cost extra; early check-in and late checkout may incur fees; nearby highway construction continues.
